Answering availability questions turns on with the AI receptionist. We connect RescueGroups.org now; until that is switched on for your line, the receptionist takes a message instead.
Setup steps
- Choose Connect. A short guided-setup form opens, and our team takes it from there.
- Tell us your RescueGroups.org organization name or id. No password or key is needed from you.
- We test lookups with you and confirm on your ticket.
Permissions we ask for, and why
- Read adoptable animals (read-only): So the AI can tell a caller whether an animal is still available. We never change anything in RescueGroups.org.
What the AI receptionist will do
- Will look the animal up by name or id in RescueGroups.org and say whether it is available, on hold or adopted.
- Will point callers to your adoption application and hours.
- Will take a message for anything else, such as surrenders or lost pets, and route urgent calls to staff.
What it can't do, and limits
- Guided setup: our team connects it with you and tests it on your account before callers rely on it.
- Read-only: the AI never changes animal records or applications.
- Uses the listings you already publish on RescueGroups.org; anything you keep private is not visible to the AI.
The AI says something is booked or ordered only when RescueGroups.org confirms it. If RescueGroups.org doesn't answer in time, the AI takes a message instead and tells the caller someone will follow up.
Troubleshooting
Do you need our RescueGroups login?
No. We read the listings you already publish.
How current are the answers?
As current as your RescueGroups.org listings.
Disconnecting, and the data we keep
An owner or admin can disconnect at any time from Phone, then Connectors, in the app. Disconnecting stops TimberSwitch using RescueGroups.org straight away.
- Your RescueGroups.org organization id.
- A log of lookups: time and a masked caller number.
- Disconnecting stops lookups straight away.
Still stuck?
Get help: it opens an Integration support ticket. Include the time of the call and what you expected to happen.
