Phone ordering turns on with the AI receptionist. We connect SpotOn now; until that is switched on for your line, the receptionist takes a message instead.
Setup steps
- Choose Connect. A short guided-setup form opens, and our team takes it from there.
- We confirm SpotOn's certification status and what SpotOn needs from you.
- You approve TimberSwitch for your SpotOn location.
- Tell us pickup times and items to leave out.
- We place a test order with you, then turn on ordering and confirm on your ticket.
Permissions we ask for, and why
- Read your menu: So the AI offers only what is on your SpotOn menu now.
- Propose and submit orders: So SpotOn prices the order before the caller confirms, and the confirmed pickup order lands in SpotOn like any other.
What the AI receptionist will do
- Will read the SpotOn menu with modifiers and availability.
- Will have SpotOn price the order and read back items and total.
- Will submit the order only after the caller says yes, and confirm only when SpotOn accepts it.
What it can't do, and limits
- Guided setup: our team connects it with you and tests it on your account before callers rely on it.
- SpotOn certifies each integration before it goes live. We start that when you ask.
- Pickup orders only; no payment on the phone.
- If SpotOn rejects the order, the AI takes a message and alerts staff.
The AI says something is booked or ordered only when SpotOn confirms it. If SpotOn doesn't answer in time, the AI takes a message instead and tells the caller someone will follow up.
Troubleshooting
Does it handle reservations too?
SpotOn's API has reservations. Tell us on the ticket if you want the AI to book tables and we include it.
Will orders print?
They arrive in SpotOn like other orders, so they follow your SpotOn printing and kitchen setup.
Disconnecting, and the data we keep
An owner or admin can disconnect at any time from Phone, then Connectors, in the app. Disconnecting stops TimberSwitch using SpotOn straight away.
- Your SpotOn location id and settings.
- A log of each order: time, SpotOn order id, total and a masked caller number.
- Disconnecting stops orders straight away.
Still stuck?
Get help: it opens an Integration support ticket. Include the time of the call and what you expected to happen.
